Self-taught Vibrato
October 20, 2012
I am always excited to see my students getting excited when they’ve accomplished a technique they thought was impossible to do on the violin. Recently, I’ve had some very interesting lessons where the students are surprising me with their accomplishments. I’ve just given some general instructions to my students that I think can start vibrato and to my surprise, a couple of the students already taught themselves how to do vibrato without me really working with them on it:) I am just one lucky teacher!!!!!:D
Posture is something that I really emphasize with my students on and I think it’s paying off:)

Halloween Carnival in Mountain House, CA
October 14, 2012
Oct.13th, 2012, Mountain House Suzuki Strings was invited to perform at the Wicklund/Bethany Halloween Carnival. Here are some photos from the event:
We started out with the Pre-Twinklers demonstrating a bow exercise and playing on the Open E and Open A strings:

Then we followed the show by playing Theme from ‘Witches’ Dance’ by Paganini from Suzuki Bk 2 and did the actual dance as well:)
Then we performed Ghost of John, Zorro, and finally Scary Twinkle where all the students joined in:
There was a baby in the audience that just couldn’t keep her eyes off of the stage:
Thank you so much for enjoying our performance!!!:D
Finally, I had to take a photo with my son who dressed up like Psy(the Korean Super Star who sang Gangnam Style):
Also, much thanks goes out to MHSS’ other director Goody Choi for being an awesome teacher along with her coolest Darth husband for always being so supportive of all of our events! We are a great team!!!
The End! Have a safe and happy Halloween. Thank you for visiting my website:)

Hope you all enjoy this! It’ll be even more exciting when we get all the Mountain House Suzuki Strings students to perform this on Saturday at the Wicklund/Bethany Carnival between 12:45-1pm:)
My Pre-twinkler is also a Teacher
October 10, 2012
I have a pre-twinkler who begged her grandma to take violin lessons. Now that she has started a month of violin lessons with me, she is starting to implement my lessons at her own home:) Gianna is a 5 year old girl who is just eager to teach her cousins and sister how to play the violin:) They of course first starte with Rest Position:)
First Wedding Gig:)
October 1, 2012
Last night I played in a wedding for the first time:) It was really nice to witness and be a part of Ling Jiang and Aldan Yan’s new beginning as husband and wife. It was a small wedding of about 100 people, which also reminded me of how my husband and I exchanged our vows to each other 10 years ago in Cupertino with ~100 guests. I wish Ling and Aldan all the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives together as one. Congratulations!

This is why we encourage our son to read more, practice piano and violin more rather than watch TV.
